Sarah Jessica Parker's New Shoe Line

If you haven't already heard, Sarah Jessica Parker who you may know as "Carrie" from Sex in the City has a new shoe line coming out February 28th, which will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom. Being both an avid Sex in the City and shoe fan, I am excited to see what these will look like in real life.

For now, based on what I have seen here are some of my favorites:

Black Heels

I was looking through my closet the other day and realized I own a little over fifteen pairs of black heels....insane right? Now before you start judging me, they have been acquired over the better part of 10 years and they are all different.

Black heels are after all a staple and trends change; pointy toe, round toe, open toe, platform, stacked heel, etc.
My fashion resolution this year has been to buy quality over quantity, which is why I have decided to look into investing in a good pair of black heels.  This may mean having to shell out an amount usually spent on something like rent.

Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, but it does mean quality and one thing that I have learned is that if I love an article of clothing or a pair of shoes then I wear it often, getting the best return of investment on it.

If I am buying a mid-level pair of shoes every year (some years maybe two) at an average amount of $100 each, then at this point I have already spent $1500 on black heels. Therefore spending $500-$700 on a pair that will be loved, worn often and will last for years doesn't seem like a bad investment.....

Here are some of the contenders: this one shown in the picture above, this lovely, this from a brand a little less known, and lastly a shoe that I always seem to be drawn to.

Drape Front Top

For some unexplainable reason I seem to be drawn to dresses, pants and shoes...not tops. Therefore if I am not careful I end up with lots of bottoms that I have a hard time coordinating with the tops I already own.

In a conscious effort to expand my wardrobe and focus more on tops I discovered the "Drape Front Top".

This Helmut Lang top  can be found here on SALE!

It can be dressed up with slacks or a skirt for work or down with jeans and funky heels for drinks or dinner with friends. Either way, its a great top to own and comes in a variety of prints and prices.

Here are some options at different price points:

James Perse Top for $195.00

Pleione Faux Drape Top  at Nordstrom for $68.00

H&M Draped Blouse $29.95

Favorite Things- Comfy Sweater

Sometimes an unexpected purchase can turn into one of your favorite things. I love when that happens!

One of my recent purchases that has quickly turned into just that, is the sweater shown below by Free People.

It is not only cozy and soft, but it can be worn in lots of different combinations.  I've worn it with grey jeans, black jeans and over a maxi dress. It can be dressed up with heels or down with tennis shoes. Paired with a great necklace and a cami, its just easy. Find it and other colors by clicking here!

When was the last time you bought something that turned into one of your favorite things?

Sunday Morning Inspiration

My favorite thing to do on a Sunday morning is to drink coffee while reading fashion magazines.

This morning I was inspired by this picture found in Vogue. The dress and coat are both by Valentino. Together, they are an unexpected combination, but work, playing on the geometric pattern and vibrant color that seems to be on trend for Spring.

Designer- Peter Pilotto

Peter Pilotto's designs caught my eye over a year ago. His dresses are always unique, both in color, pattern and style. Therefore it comes as no surprise that Target would commission it as the next brand to be featured in their affordable exclusive designer collection, set to launch tomorrow, Feb 9th. This time the pieces can be found not only at Target but also Net-a-porter. Since Target designer exclusives usually sell out within minutes, it may be nice to have a second option on where to buy.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are the designers behind the label. They met while studying at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. Pilotto focuses on the textiles and prints, while Vos concentrates on the silhouette and drape. The two work together to create interesting and lovely creations! It is currently sold in 50 countries worldwide at over 220 high end retailers including Selfridges in London, Le Bon Marche in Paris, Bergdorf and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and Joyce and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong and China.

Below some of my favorite pieces from their PreSpring 14 (1& 2 picture) and Spring 14 Collection (3&4):

Love the pattern and drape of this dress!

The bottom of this dress looks very fairy tale-esque!
