2014 Emmy Dresses

It's award season time, which means time to pick your favorite Emmy dress!

This year, there were lots of amazing dresses. As I personally search for a gown to wear to a wedding later this year I am struck with the fact that almost all of the Emmy dresses hit a current evening gown trend. On trend dresses include long silhouettes with layers of ombre (taken from recent hair trends), strapless gowns with slits, side cutouts and one shoulder gowns. The color that dominated last night was definitely red. There were also lots of metallics, shades of white and pops of yellow (which I loved to see).

Some of my favorites shown below. What were yours?

Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Couture

Cat Deely in Burberry

January Jones in Prabal Gurung

Lizzy Caplan in Donna Karan Atelier

Kaley Cuoco in Monique Lhullier

Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Coigney in Lanvin

Julia Louis- Dreyfus in Carolina Herrera

Inspiration- Ralph Lauren

Taken directly from the pages of August's Harper's Bazaar, loving the 1920's Downton Abbey influence in Ralph Lauren's recent line. This outfit is not only amazing but timeless!

What to Wear to a Wedding

It is unknown how many weddings a person attends in a lifetime, but chances are that you will be attending a few that aren't your own. Deciding what to wear as a wedding guest can become stressful, but instead of letting it, remind yourself that it can be fun!

Give yourself time to search. No one finds a perfect dress the day before. Also, try on a few dresses. Sometimes the one you aren't that interested in on the rack, turns out to be "the one"....same goes for boys.

I'm not usually a fan of fashion rules, but in the case of weddings there are a couple to keep in mind.

1. Don't wear white!
Whether or not the bride decides to wear white is up to her, but traditionally speaking that color is off limits to wedding guests. Color is much more fun anyway. My advice, choose something bright!

2. Save the sexy dress for date night!
Weddings are a family affair and so you shouldn't wear anything that is too tight or too short.  Remember you might be sitting next to some one's grandmother. Be sexy, but keep it classy!

Overall, find something that you are comfortable in and speaks to your personality. Feel your best headed into the wedding, that way you can focus on important things like eating, drinking and dancing with your friends and family!
